Ranting and Raving 'Bout Trash

Wow there's a ton going on. I'll be catching up on the basement list as soon as I have a free moment. I don't know whether I'll regret posting this or not, but the last two days I've been hanging out with some really cool folks from the Int'l Documentary Challenge who for some reason think the idea of keeping my trash in the basement is interesting enough to show to other people in all its glory. Its actually a pretty cool deal where they shoot, edit and deliver a four to seven minute documentary in just 5 days. Of course, I kind of screwed up and missed their email so they ended up only having 4 days.

Either way, it should be online at some point and if i haven't made a total schmo of myself I'll post the link.

Crazy stuff.

So i went to Coffee Bean for a meeting and I bring my mug as usual. I got a chai tea latte and the guy behind the counter uses a cardboard cup to mix in and then pours it into my cup. Crazy.

Pacific Gyre Sample

The sample you are looking at was taken off the surface of the ocean 1500 miles from land by my friends Marcus and Anna. Studying the Gyre for the Algalita Marine Research Foundation, they surmised that it is 25 million square miles and comprised of approx. 3.5 million tons of plastic debris. While this may not seem like much, consider this, it's a little over a cup of water and it's got all of that in it. And since the fish eat the particles and bigger fish eat those fish, you may just be looking at dinner.

Week 9 Pics

Still need to clean the basement. The shredder is working great but I tend to get little strips of paper everywhere. No smell still. YAY! No way did I think this is all I'd have at the end of 2 months.
