Kevin and Bean Say Goodbye
As some of you may know I have been a guest on a local radio station here in LA at the beginning of every month since January. To cap it off (yes they are not coming back for one last stop in January) they invited me in studio this AM for some fun. Its a pretty funny interview and make sure to check out the farewell song at the end.

Wild Times
The AP did a rather nice story on me that came out Friday. From the looks of it, it went all over the world and the last 72 hours have been quite a whirlwind. I'll hopefully be catching up on the days garbage count tomorrow (I've been keeping a list as usual).
In the meantime, if anyone out there happens to catch the article in a language other than english or even in a country outside of the US, I'd love it if you'd send a link or snap a pic and send it.

Radio is a Sound Salvation
Things have been jumping here since the 6 month mark and i've been fortunate enough to do a bunch of radio shows. The most recent, BBC Outlook, went up today and is quite funny if you ask me. Waiting on a lot of MP3s but some of the others are listed below. I'm still shocked that people want to hear what i have to say, but at least it gets more people thinking about things, so for the moment, I'll keep talking.

Care 2
I've been meaning to post about this for a while but have just been so swamped I haven't gotten around to it. I've still got two weeks of pics in the camera I need to upload!
A few months back, Care2, a really cool social activist organization asked me if I'd like to submit pieces for them in the form of a blog. Never the kind to realize that I already had too much on my plate, I of course agreed. You can check out the pieces I've written so far here but I'd also urge you to check out and sign up for their action alerts. They send you info on bills that are coming up and pressing issues and let you know how to have your voice heard on the subject.

NPR Day To Day
NPR's Day to Day came to the house a few weeks back to do a follow up from the first interview they did in January. It aired on Thursday and is a really nice piece along with video on the website as well. Highlights are definitely hearing the missus on national radio saying she's still glad she married me (I'm sure I'll be paying for that for a while) and hearing the dog drinking copious amounts of water in the background of the video.

Fu of the Week
Epic Fu asked to come out to the house about a month ago and the video they shot went up today. Apparently I'm the Fu of the week, which sounds kind of cool. I'm hoping there's some sort of compostable statue that goes with that. You can also check out the shorter cut here and the whole show here.

KROQ Radio and a theme song
Trying like crazy to catch up on all sorts of things, but thought I'd post this quickly as I haven't in a while. I've been on Kevin and Bean's show on KROQ here in LA at the beginning of every month since January and as of June, they made me a theme song, which totally cracks me up.
You can also hear the other interviews there as well. Some better than others, but generally we have a good time.

International Garbage
If you had told me 106 days ago that I'd be on the Korean Daily Papers website and in an Israeli Magazine called Globes, I would have laughed in your face. But there it is. The Korean Daily actually happened while I was back with my Dad and provided a much welcomed bit of odd reality amidst the insanity. A friend who knows a Korean student had him translate it for me. I'm assuming that the Korean read a bit more eloquently than the English does.
"There would be no one who never thought about how serious the problem of pollution is. However, There'd not be many people who realize how much we actually contaminate environment in our everyday life.
A man in Los Angeles is doing a one year test to find out.
Dave Chameides had a thought that he won't inherit the world with piles of trash to their two daughters. He wondered how much trash one person makes in one year and if there is a way to take care of trash without contaminating environment as possible. Finally, he decided to do a test which is collecting all of his trash he makes for one year in his own basement. As a new year's resolution, Dave announced that he's going to do this test for one year from janurary 1, 2008 on his blog 'SustainableDave' on December 31.
Dave trys not to make trash by recycling over and over, but it's not possilbe to recycle everything. He separate them by two. Decayable things goes to the worm composter and non-decayable things goes to his basement. His family produces only 2 pounds trash per person a day which is less than a half of average amount of daily trash per person in america, 4.5 pounds. He's giving children lectures on the importance of environment as a volunteer.
Dave's blog became well known to many people through Interviews with major media such as ABC News. Many people who concern about environment are getting help from his blog which contains alot of data on environment and his thoughts and problems he faced while doing the test. It's simply a shock watching the real time meter showing fast increasing number of worldwide plastic bags consumed this year.
As for this one, i knew about it as they sent a reporter and photographer to the house. I'll send the translation when I get the hard copy in the mail as the type on this is just too small for anyone to read.

Ranting and Raving 'Bout Trash
Wow there's a ton going on. I'll be catching up on the basement list as soon as I have a free moment. I don't know whether I'll regret posting this or not, but the last two days I've been hanging out with some really cool folks from the Int'l Documentary Challenge who for some reason think the idea of keeping my trash in the basement is interesting enough to show to other people in all its glory. Its actually a pretty cool deal where they shoot, edit and deliver a four to seven minute documentary in just 5 days. Of course, I kind of screwed up and missed their email so they ended up only having 4 days.
Either way, it should be online at some point and if i haven't made a total schmo of myself I'll post the link.
Crazy stuff.

CNET Article
I keep on forgetting to post this but CNET ran a very cool article on me and a few other folks who are/have done similar things. As usual, the dog got top billing. It kind of amazes me how press wise this thing has taken on a life of it's own. Enjoy!

ABC News
ABC 7 came and did a little piece on me the other day. A few weird video glitches, but otherwise a fun piece. I'm convinced that I don't look that weird in real life, but my wife disagrees.

Day to Day on NPR
Madeleine Brand on NPRs Day to Day did a cool little piece on the start of the whole no garbage thingy. It's still weird to hear myself on the radio (I was interviewed back in December for another piece) and it's always interesting to see how they cut things together. I talked to Eve Troeh (who interviewed me here at the house) for about an hour or so and they condensed it down into 2:45. It's a nice little interview and has gotten the word around a bit so that's a good thing. Only down side is that I sound like I've had WAY too much coffee and they cut out my show stopping finale, a little tap song and dance piece that pays homage to all of the Andrew Lloyd Weber shows in under 45 seconds. It's really quite nice.
