How To Talk To Global Warming Skeptics

A great article from Grist about how to answer global warming skeptics. Personally, I don't think it makes a stick of difference if it can be proven (at least whether or not we are causing it) because it's a question of acceptable risk, but some people need proof. Here's a good way to engage them.

Check it out.

I think this might help the *rational* climate change skeptics...but I think too many of the skeptics are NOT rational. Their "position" on climate change is based on something else entirely (fear? faith? denial?) ...

I would agree with Scott - fear and denial.

But I also agree with you, Dave. It doesn't matter if AGW can be proven - the most compelling arguments can be found in acceptable risk and, I would argue, economic competitiveness as the rest of the world takes action on climate change.

I support actions to prevent global warming as well as moving towards zero waste. However, I believe global warming is a political agenda, a fraud. The consequences of which will be, among other things, outrageous energy costs for the masses domestically. Internationally, it will cause suppression of third world country development. Also land will be used for inefficient alternative energy resources instead of food production which will directly result in starvation of millions of people.

Environmental issue is always been a good and interesting topic. It portrays the negative aspects of human activity. Global warming is one of the result of it. I do think that if everyone of us has an exact knowledge on how to conserve and recycle things we can fight against it.
